For sleeping in...

Conversation with Jimmy

Him : What are you doing, Mama?
Me: I'm sewing the back for my new quilt.
Him: What's this piece of fabric? *picking up a 4"x6" scrap of blue flannel*
Me: That's a scrap piece from cutting out the squares.
Him: Is it for me? Is it my fabric? *rubbing it on his little chubby cheek*
Me: Yes you can have that piece of fabric. What are you going to do with it?
Him: It's a blanket for McQueen.
Me: Oh, that's a good idea. I think he needs a blanket.
*He runs off and returns a few minutes later with fabric and car*
Him: Mama, can you fix it?
* I immediately see where this is going and remember a fine post by Mary that I totally ripped off the following idea from*
Me: Tell you what. Since I'm already sewing, let me make something for McQueen, too.
Him: What are you making?
Me: McQueen gets his own sleeping bag. * approx. 45 seconds worth of sewing* Here you go .
Him: *Squealing giggle as he runs off with it and plays quietly for a 1/2 hour, letting all the cars try out the sleeping bag.*

Yeah, totally worth the few seconds of sewing and the scrap of fabric!

Looking forward to setting up my sewing machine again, now that I have room.

Cute story. Isn't it funny what entertains kids!

Quit yer lurking! :D

I have some framed hankies with the UV glass & all. I'm still not sure what I'll do with the tablecloth, but it is too beautiful to be in the closet.
