Recent pictures

The cat filled donut is a common sight these days

We have one renegade rose in our hedge.

Just one!

And I have a good start on my next quilt.

Does this remind you of anything?

Go go Joe-zilla!

And we spent an hour or so exploring the fountain!

They grow up so fast!

Jimmy just turned three and is shaving already!

Well, practicing with the Thomas Shaving Kit he got for his birthday.

He still needs to learn the shaving/whipped cream difference, though!

Joey doesn't shave yet, but likes his bubbles!

We all love Auntie Camas! ( and Mak and Freya!)

Yum!

Man, talk about fast and easy!

When's the last time you had these!

Yummy!
I made a piggie of myself!

Daddy's food is always better!

And be sure to check out Mama's Getting Crafty for a rare picture of me and see who loves my quilts!

Father's day weekend

Despite the weatherman's gloomy predictions, our weather has finally been nice the last few days.

I took the boys on an adventure to Vashon Island to deliver the American Hero Quilt I made for their project. We stopped for lunch and ice cream on the way back.

Jimmy likes going for adventures!

We also changed over Joey's clothes to the next size up this weekend. Doesn't he look like a big boy? *sniff* and not like a baby? *sniff*

For Father's day we went out for breakfast.

*How come HE gets a balloon? I'm cuter!*

And then we went for a hike.

Jimmy got ahead of us for a little while

But he came back. He found a cattail.

And discovered cattails turn into lots of fluff when banged on the fence!

He also found a set of binoculars.

He wants to be just like Pokey!

Joey found grass...

and found it's hard to walk with only one shoe on.

Hooray for Daddy!

We had a great time out!

At home I found this little lady on our front hedge.

She caught my eye as a VERY tidy bug (ha ha ha)!

I also did some tidying myself of the front yard.

This is what it looked like when I started.

Pretty dreary, huh! All overgrown with weeds and grass...

A few hours, a bolt and a half of weed wacker string, some herbicide and lots of mulch later it looks like this!

Isn't that better?
I still need to trim out the grass around the rocks closest to the gate, but what an improvement, huh?

And I guess I shouldn't have planted the hen and chicks here, they have been trampled on by little feet many times, now, poor things...

For sleeping in...

Conversation with Jimmy

Him : What are you doing, Mama?
Me: I'm sewing the back for my new quilt.
Him: What's this piece of fabric? *picking up a 4"x6" scrap of blue flannel*
Me: That's a scrap piece from cutting out the squares.
Him: Is it for me? Is it my fabric? *rubbing it on his little chubby cheek*
Me: Yes you can have that piece of fabric. What are you going to do with it?
Him: It's a blanket for McQueen.
Me: Oh, that's a good idea. I think he needs a blanket.
*He runs off and returns a few minutes later with fabric and car*
Him: Mama, can you fix it?
* I immediately see where this is going and remember a fine post by Mary that I totally ripped off the following idea from*
Me: Tell you what. Since I'm already sewing, let me make something for McQueen, too.
Him: What are you making?
Me: McQueen gets his own sleeping bag. * approx. 45 seconds worth of sewing* Here you go .
Him: *Squealing giggle as he runs off with it and plays quietly for a 1/2 hour, letting all the cars try out the sleeping bag.*

Yeah, totally worth the few seconds of sewing and the scrap of fabric!

Sunshine days...finally

The sun is out and so are the boys!
Time to mow the lawn like Daddy.

Jimmy lapped Joey several times!

Mine won't start!

Jimmy now has a new job in the daily routine...
He gets to set the table for dinner each night.

He likes the responsibility and takes it very seriously.

I got a little creative and made a Dot-berry cake...

There are sliced strawberries in between the layers...

Jeff tried to use his smoker for the first time. See the nice pink smoke ring?!?

Yummy!
