Five years...

Jimmy turned five not too long ago...
Five years of blogging about him as well...

Jimmy has gone in 5 years from this

To this!

I can only imagine what the next 5 will bring.

We held Jimmy's party at the Honolulu Zoo and it was a total blast!
Just enough kids showed up so it wasn't mayhem, but enough that it was fun!

There was a crocodile mask art project to do...

Joey made one but his didn't stay on as well...

Feeding the fish and turtles at the lemur pond...

And a guided "safari" around the elephants and primates.

There was even a pinata to pull

but best of all...

there was cake!

Oh yes, there was cake!!!

Much fun was had by all!

Jimmy got a lot of great gifts for his birthday. One thing he wanted to try out right away was this mask and fins set.
Hang loose little dude!

Getting back into the normal swing of things, we have discovered a great park that we only get to go to on grocery day... it is all the way up on the army base...

It has a pirate ship!

We also like to go to Waikele and ride the trolley.

One of the trolley stops is right in front of our favorite sushi place.

Inside the bathrooms (of course the first stop) Joey discovered a urinal that was finally low enough to the ground that he could use it! Small victories! (*don't get yourself worked up... that is Jimmy's HAND!*)

Yes, we love our sushi!

It is always good to round out a sushi lunch with a nice drink...

Perhaps a cupcake...

Long time no post!

Aloha All!

Sorry to have fallen off of the blogging bandwagon, but we have been semi-busy around here...

First and foremost.... yea for Mama! almost 1/3 of the way to the goal!

For anyone that may have forgotten,

this is Jimmy

And this is Joey.

They are brothers and starting to get along... sometimes.

They now share a room with bunk beds. It is not uncommon to find them in the morning in a different bunk from the one you tucked them into the night before...
They both like to sit on the top and read together...

Before the bunk beds could come in, the boys needed a better closet arrangement for all their clothes and toys.
The first step was to empty the closet out. The boys liked this part the most.

Then we put up new shelves and started organizing. Mama liked this part the best...

Here is how it looks with almost everything put away.

We have had many adventures lately, as well.
Very tiring adventures.

But some days we just stay home and color.

Sometimes the boys get out of bed while Mama is in the shower after her morning workout...
sometimes they help themselves to only their favorite pieces for breakfast...

Not that I would point fingers or anything...

On one adventure we were able to watch as Hawaiian Monk Seals came up onto the beach for the night! This was very exciting as these animals are endangered and fairly rare!

We played tourist for a few days, too...

Shared some tropical drinks...

Listened to stories...

Watched dolphins swimming with Mama.

Mostly we are just gearing up for the big deployment and Kindergarten!
Before then we have boy turning 5 (!!! mah baybeeeee!) and having a Safari Party at the zoo!

Until we see you again we hope you all find time to splash in a puddle!

52 weeks of awesome- weeks 8 & 9

OK so the last 2 weeks have been less than awesome...
Let me count the ways...
A trip to the emergency room for a "accidental immersion" in the pool- hearing the doctors at the desk just outside my room joking about how that's how they learned to swim didn't help! Teach your kids the safety float as early as possible people! It really works ! Joey if LIVING proof!

Tsunami "warning"... what a joke! All the fuss in the media over a ripple. Guess it was a slow news day and they needed SOMETHING TO PANIC ABOUT!

Jimmy is action like a 4 year old alpha pushing every boundary and limit he can...
Joey is starting to act like a terrible two...

Oh yeah and we are all sick as dogs! I will post some pictures of the bright spots from the last two weeks if I can stop the pounding in my head long enough to turn the snotfaucet off for a while.

52 Weeks of Awesome - Week 7

This week held little activity, but I got a few surprises on the camera when it was time to download this week's pictures!

Joey tried to take a self portrait at some point this week...

As did Jimmy...

This weeks mark one year that we have been homeowners! Yahoo!
We celebrated by changing all the batteries in the smoke detectors, changing water and air filters, cleaning out and washing the inside of the refrigerator, tossing everything past the expiration date (food, meds, toiletries...) and making an appointment to get the carpets cleaned! Yea! Doesn't that sound like fun!

When it was time for a break we headed to the pool.

The boys love the pool and both are swimming around fairly well, if still floatie dependent!

I did get a very nice valentine...

Jimmy then asked for help making a new valentine. "I have a lot to say and can't write that small!" This was going to be mailed but has been lost to Joe-zilla... sorry Camas!

52 weeks of awesome- week 6

Busy week as always!

Wore out just about everyone around here!

The Cats took a trip to the vet. One has a UTI but is feeling much better now.

Joey has a new trick! (he's not depressed...)

On really busy days, sometimes Joey doesn't quite make it all the way upstairs to go to bed...

The boys do plenty of work around the house, one of the weekly chores is to wipe down the cabinets.

On top of earning allowance, they are also rewarded with fun things like a day at the beach!

Which rewards Mama with two tired boys that don't complain about going to bed!

Sometimes Pneumonia gets to join us!

Frozen yogurt is the best way to wrap an awesome week!
