Farewell Summer!

Yesterday was the last day of summer. It was a great one but the last six weeks have just been crazy busy.

We hung in there and I even found inspiration to make the bed everyday!

Having daddy home is a big treat and the boys are enjoying every minute of it!

I'm not sure what the joke was, but I guess it was a good one!

Daddy is now (finally!) officially a Chief!
(*the next few pictures are courtesy of Grandpa Barry * Thanks Barry)

Uncle Brian came for the pinning ceremony, a long and special trip!

Here are Jeff and I along with the Captain and Chiefs' Mess of the boat we are stationed with until we move.

I'm so proud of Jeff!

The boy's didn't come to the pinning. The first thing they wanted to do when we got home was try on Daddy's spiffy new hat!

I had to buy new shoes for the pinning and the ball that followed a few nights later.
I was excited to find a vintage evening bag the matched my shoes pretty well! I have never really concerned about that kind of thing... I felt almost kinda grown up!

I also found this cute satchel.

Yesterday we celebrated family time by taking a trip over to Seattle to go up the space needle.

The boys, as always, enjoyed running around on the ferry!

Does this jacket and place setting look familiar?

It should...
*Jimmy in '06*

Jeff also had fun with Cheetos.

The space needle was fun. I had never been to the top. The boys enjoyed looking through the telescopes. This is the only picture I took while chasing Joey around.

It was cool, and we could hear the roaring of the crowd at the Seahawks game, which caught me by surprise!

It has been a great Summer! Now we are gearing up to enjoy the last fall and winter we will see in a few years...

Do you smell a smell?

It wasn't me!

Joey's Halloween outfit arrived and we have started practicing wearing it.

We started with the hood...

And moved on this morning... Here is the front.

Side view.

And the back

Joey seems to enjoy it... He likes rubbing his fuzzy tummy!

I think we'll be OK for trick or treating, after we add the long sleeve shirt and tights...
Jimmy thinks it's funny. He doesn't realize that he's next....

"We're going on a blackberry trip!"

As Jimmy sang over and over!

We had a weekend of discovery.
We discovered how nice it is to have daddy home for the weekend!
Jimmy and Joey both discovered on our hike Saturday that they LOVE blackberries (hence the picking trip on Sunday).
Mama discovered how far into the brambles she will venture in shorts to get the sweetest berries for her purple - stained, smiling boys (much further than was probably prudent!)
Joey discovered that no matter how much it looks like a corn dog, a cattail is not good to eat.
Mama discovered she forgot the camera :(

So Sunday we went on a blackberry trip, Jimmy singing all morning.

*mind the thorns, though!*

Joey needed to try to ride first, his feet don't reach yet, though.

Jimmy watched, ready to go, bucket in hand!

Mama found the first blackberries.

Jimmy's bucket would have been more full, but someone kept eating the berries...

Daddy and Joey picked lots of berries, too!

Jimmy watched from the grass.

We also found a creek and a snake.

Jimmy had a good bucketful!

So many! Definitely enough for a cobbler!

After a sunscreen in the eyes disaster, we had lunch. Jimmy was stoic about the whole thing, when it was over.

Joey enjoyed the whole day!

Uh Oh!

Peek a boo!

I had this! and need to find a good recipe! It's Pollo a crema, I think is what it's called.

And now for something completely different.

I got a catolouge in the mail and this one thing had me laughing for the rest of the day.

Really? What do they do? Do they only come off for Prince Charming?
Hmmmm...
if they're so wonderful, why are they on sale? Did a wicked witch make a batch that didn't sell?
